Dr. Liang-Sheng (Larry) Liao is a Professor at Soochow University, Suzhou, P. R. of China. He was trained as a semiconductor physicist from Nanchang University and Nanjing University in China, respectively. After his Ph.D. program at Nanjing University, he finished his post-doctoral research at Fudan University in 1997 and was appointed as an Associate Professor at Fudan University. From 1998 to 2000, he was a Research Fellow in the Center Of Super-Diamond and Advanced Films (COSDAF), City University of Hong Kong. From December 2000 to March 2009, he worked as a Senior Research Scientist in the Research Laboratories, Eastman Kodak Company in USA. Since March 2009, he joined in Soochow University. 

Dr. Liao's research interests are semiconductor physics and semiconductor device physics; organic semiconductor devices; surface and interface studies of thin films; semiconductor thin film materials. 

Dr. Liao has published over 250 papers with more than 5000 citations (SCI h-index = 36). Within the 8 years working at Kodak, he filed 61 US patent applications (41 of which have been granted). He invented organic tandem OLEDs with full organic intermediate connectors; fabricated high-performance OLEDs for both display applications and solid-state lighting applications; Awards include: "First Rate Award in Progress of Science and Technology", by Jiangsu Provincial Government in 1998; and "Distinguished Inventor", by Eastman Kodak Company in 2007. He was selected into the "National One-Thousand Talented Program" of China in 2009.
