Lining Sun


Prof. Lining Sun received his Ph.D. degree from Harbin Institute of Technology in 1993. He is currently the Dean of School of Mechanical and Electric Engineering at Soochow University, where he is also the Head of Robotics and Microsystems Research Center. Prof. Sun has won a series of national honors, e.g., he is the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars winner, the Ministry of Education Changjiang Scholars Distinguished Professor, the national "Million People Plan" scientific and technological innovation leader, the expert of National 10th five-year 863 program in robotics technology field and leader of MEMS major group. He is also the expert of 11th five-year 863 program in advanced manufacturing technology field and 12th five-year 863 program MEMS field. He is expert in service robot major project of National Ministry of Science and Technology. 

Prof. Sun has served for a number of academic groups. He is vice president of MEMS/NEMS Society of China, CIS and executive director of Chinese Society of MICRO-NANO Technology, as well as deputy director of Robot Committee of Chinese Association of Automation.
Prof. Sun's research interests include MEMS/NEMS, Advanced Robot, and mechatronic equipment technology, in which fields he has made significant achievements. He has presided more than 20 research projects including "863" program, 973 plan, the national major projects and the National Natural Science Fund, etc. He has won twice National Technology Invention/Science and Technology Progress Awards and Ministry of Education Technology Invention Award. He has also won three Provincial Technology Invention/Scientific and Technological Progress First Prize and two Second Prize. Prof. Sun has published more than 400 academic papers, and over 40 Chinese Patents.
