School of Energy

School of energy belongs to the College of Physics, Optoelectronics and Energy, Soochow University. Currently the school has a faculty of 50 members, including one Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, five Young "Thousand Talent" scholars, two "Excellent Young Scholars" supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, two "Shuang Chuang" scholars, one Excellent Young Scholar supported by the Jiangsu Science Fund and other 12 distinguished professors. Their expertise contributes greatly to the depth and breadth of the research being conducted in the department.

The research in School of Energy encompasses a series of energy disciplines. It offers two doctoral degrees (New Energy Science and Engineering, Energy and Environmental Engineering.), two master's degrees (New Energy Materials and Device, Energy and Power Engineering ), and three undergraduate programs (New Energy materials and devices, New Energy Materials and Devices (Sino-foreign cooperation), and Energy and Power Engineering). The school houses the Institute of Jiangsu Energy Storage Technology, New Energy teaching Demonstration Center of Jiangsu, Key Laboratories of New Energy Materials, Energy Technology and Low Carbon Economic Research Center of Suzhou.

School of energy occupies scientific research and experimental area of more than 5000 square meters and has instrument worth more than 50 million RMB. These instruments include SEM, XRD, ICP-OES elemental analyzer, BET analyzer, Laser particle size analyzer, etc.

Over the past five years, the college has conducted more than 90 scientific research projects. The funding resources include 973 Youth, 863 Major Project, an international cooperation project of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and other 40 Natural Science Foundation Projects. The total funding is more than 50 million RMB. In addition, more than 80 national invention patents and utility model patents have been authorized. More than 200 academic papers have been published in Nature. Comm., Chem. Soc. Review, J. Am. Chem. Soc, Adv. Mater, Advanced Energy Materials, Energy Environ. Sci.etc.

School of energy has established a good relationship with companies associated with new energy and new materials. Our school also strives to prepare undergraduate and graduate students for careers in traditional and renewable energy fields as well as careers in cross-disciplined areas in research, academia and industry.
