World Champions

Chen Yanqing, a Chinese weight lifter. As a 2006 undergraduate student of Dongwu Business School and a 2013 postgraduate student of the School of Education of Soochow University, Chen is now serving as the Deputy Director in the Suzhou Municipal Administration of Sports. From 1998 to 2008, she won many gold medals in the Women's 58 kg competitions at various international events, including the Asian Games in Bangkok, the 13th World Weightlifting Championships, the Athens Olympic Games in 2004, and the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008. She was also awarded the Sports Medal of Honor in the year of 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2004, and was selected as one of China's Top 10 Athletes in 2005 and 2006.




Wu Jingyu, a Chinese taekwondo athlete. As a 2006 undergraduate and 2011 postgraduate student of the School of Physical Education of Soochow University, Wu also serves as an executive member of the Chinese Olympic Committee after starting her doctoral program at the School of Politics and Public Administration of Soochow University in 2015. Wu has won many championships in various international games, including 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and 2012 London Olympic Games, the WTF World Taekwondo Grand Prix in 2014, and WTF World Grand Prix Final in 2015. Thanks to her great achievement, she was selected as the best female athlete of the year in the 2015 CCTV Sports Personality Awarding Ceremony.




Sun Yang, a Chinese swimmer. As a 2015 postgraduate student of the School of Physical Education of Soochow University, Sun won  gold medals in the FINA World Championships in 2011, the London Olympic Games in 2012, the Rio Olympic Games in 2016, and the FINA World Championships in 2017. In 2012, Sun was selected as the best male athlete of the year in the CCTV Sports Personality Awarding Ceremony.


 

 


Zhou Chunxiu, a Chinese marathoner. As a 2003 undergraduate and a 2008 postgraduate student of the School of Physical Education of Soochow University, Zhou won the championships in the 2006 Seoul Marathon and 2007 London Marathon. After that, she also achieved third place in the Marathon Competition of the 2008 Beijing Olympics, and the championship in the 16th Asian Games in Guangzhou in 2010.


 


Zhang Hua, a Chinese taekwondo athlete. As a 2009 undergraduate and 2014 postgraduate student of the School of Physical Education of Soochow University, Zhang won the championships at the ITF Taekwondo World Cup in 2012 and 2015.




Tang Weifang, a Chinese weight lifter. As a 2009 on-the-job graduate student of the School of Physical Education of Soochow University, Tang won the Gold Medal at the 9th, 10th and 12th Women's Weightlifting World Championships held respectively in 1995, 1996, and 1998.
