A formal ceremony for the opening of High Performance Computing & Application Research Institute of Soochow University was held on Dec. 10, 2008, and Chen Guoliang, leader in the research of non numerical parallel algorithms in China, as well as Academician of the Chinese Academy of Science, was appointed director of the institute. Thus one more academician has been introduced to our university since the implementation of the faculty construction mode of “Academic Master plus Innovative Team”.
