On April 14th 2009, director-general Yoshiro Kitamoto of Hokuriku University and his Party visited Soochow University. His party included senior-managing director Zhou Hang, director of International Exchange Center Oguwa Kazuo and International Exchange Center staff Zhou Qing and Nakajima. President Zhu Xiulin of Soochow University warmly greeted the visiting party in the Red Conference Center.

  Firstly, on behalf of the whole university, President Zhu Xiulin extended a warm welcome to the visiting party led by director-general Yoshiro Kitamoto. President Zhu said that Soochow University attached great importance to exchange and cooperation with Hokuriku University and hoped that this visit would help expand cooperation between faculty, staff and students of these two universities. Director-general Yoshiro Kitamoto expressed sincere gratitude to President Zhu’s reception and the enduring efforts made by Soochow University for exchanges and cooperation between the two universities.

  The exhange and cooperation between Soochow University and Hokuriku University began in 1992. Over the years, the two universities have carried out substantive cooperation in compiling Suzhou Modern Dialect Dictionary and the exchange of faculty, students and administrative staff.

  After the talks, on behalf of the two universities President Zhu Xiulin and director-general Yoshiro Kitamoto renewed the cooperative agreement for 2+2 undergraduate training programs.
