School of Electronics & Information, Soochow University is founded on the department of Electronics Engineering since 1987. Along with the development and expanding, its name was changed to School of Electronics & Information, in July 2002. Prof. Jun Hua Pan, academician in Chinese Academy of Engineering is now the honorary president.

  The school was moved to the main campus of Soochow University surrounded with beautiful landscape and with a history of a hundred years, in November, 2009.  A new building named “Electronics & Information” of 20,000 square meters is now served for research and teaching. After 20 years of construction and development, the school has achieved rapid development in specialty setting, staffs, students’ scale, scientific research, experimental bases, etc.

  The school is composed of department of communication engineering, department of electronic engineering, department of microelectronics, and the Jiangsu Electronics Experiment Teaching Center.  Currently, there are 900 full-time undergraduate students and more than 400 graduate students.

The school has five undergraduate programs: Communications Engineering, Information Engineering, Electronic Information Engineering, Electronic Science and Technology, Microelectronics. The Communications Engineering is the characteristic specialty in Jiangsu, and the Microelectronics is the characteristic specialty in Soochow University.

  Moreover, there are 1 Doctoral program for Signal and Information Processing, 1 first level Master program for Information and Communications Engineering (includes Communications & Information System, Signal and Information Processing), and Master program for Microelectronics & Solid Electronics. The school also can provide 2 Master of Engineering programs: Electronics & Communication Engineering and Integrated Circuit Engineering.

  The school has a group of high level, high-quality, and innovative teachers and researchers. There are 75 faculties including 8 doctoral advisers, 30 master advisers, 12 professors and 25 associate professors. The people with Ph.D degrees are up to 60% of 55 full time lecturers. In addition, 3 academicians and 10 part-time professors are employed as the students’ advisers. 90% of full time lecturers are from famous domestic universities or overseas universities, and the young teachers under 40 years old all hold the Ph.D degrees or Master’s degrees.

  The school of Electronics & Information has the “211 Project” public service system: Jiangsu Universities’ Electrical and Electronic Experimental Teaching Center, which takes all Engineering Electrical, Electronic Course of experimental teaching in hand. Otherwise, there are several professional labs and joint research groups in the school, such as optical communications Lab, SPC switching Lab, Digital Communications Lab, Microwave Lab, Wireless radiation test Lab, EDA Lab, DSP Lab, IC design Lab, and so on.

  The school pays great attention to cooperating with enterprises, and has established Soochow University IT enterprise advising committee, associated with Motorola, Nokia, Andrew etc. famous IT companies for serving the local economics.

The school receives much improvement supported by Suzhou government and other business companies. In recent years, the students of our school won several national or provincial prizes, and several classes are also awarded the national or provincial honor class.

  In the area of research, our school has assumed more than 20 higher level projects including the national natural science foundation. In Communication Systems, Computer Communication Networks, Signal Processing, Image Signal Processing, Wireless Communications, Intelligent Instruments, Biomedical Information Processing, ASIC Design, Testing, Digital Electronic Products, our school has made more achievements and patents.

  The Continuing Education Center in our school can provide short-term and long-term academic skills education. We have 2 years self-taught testing and 4 years “Electronic Information Engineering” undergraduate program. Moreover, the Master of Engineering programs: Integrated Circuit Engineering and Electronic Communications Engineering also becomes the major attractions of the school. With the reform and development in Yangtze River Delta area, the school of Electronics & Information will bring up a lot good undergraduate and graduate students.
