President Zhu Xiulin led a delegation to Laos from January 31 to February 4, 2010, to enhance strategic partnership with Lao government and universities. In the meantime, the Education Department of Jiangsu Province accorded great importance to this action and sent Mr. Ding Xiaochang, Deputy Director-General of ED, to attend the Honorary Doctorate Degree Awarding Ceremony for Mr. Choummaly Sayasone, General Secretary of the communist Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and president of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, and Mr. Bouasone Bouphavanh, prime minister of Laos.

  The delegation’s visits greatly strengthened the friendly cooperation between SU and Lao government and universities, exerting a profound influence upon Laos’ society. For instance, the news of the ceremony got a front-page splash in such Lao newspapers as People’s News, Laos Daily, Vientiane Times. Also, Laos’ state television offered an instant broadcasting of the ceremony. It raised by degrees SU’s international reputation, and created a favorable atmosphere for SU’s educational exchange with Laos.
