Liruo Xin

Professor Li obtained his B.S. degree from Beijing Normal University in 1985, his Ph.D. from Princeton University in 1994, and his MBA from Rutgers University in 1999.  Professor Li has many years of industry experience and worked for several Fortune 500 companies worldwide. His research focus is surface chemistry, functional chemicals, and related fields. Professor Li led R&D in several multinational companies and was Chief Representative of a US company responsible for the China/Asia market. He has successfully developed several product lines based on the needs of the Asia market and has been granted numerous patents. Several projectshave made significant financial gain for the companies and have also benefited society.

Professor Li has been researching and developing functional inks, coating and related additives for many years. For example, Professor Li developed a series of surface active additives, such as Gemini surfactant, in order to meet a growing market need in this area. These products effectively increase surface interaction between two different material surfaces. Their applications include various nano material dispersions and inks such as pigments, dispersion dyes, inorganicparticles and so on.  Professor Li’s team also pays close attention to new material applications in traditional industry fields. Through understanding of micro stagematerials, Professor Li has made materials more suitable for industrial use by micro modification. This approach has been used in many areas such as modification of graphene used in clothing and energy conservation, nano particles used to improve textile quality, as well as conservation water consumption during the manufacturing process. Professor Li’s main goal is to help enterprises improve efficiency and reduce energy consumption while creating world class leading edge products to meet market demands of industry worldwide.

Professor Li has over 30 international patients, and has received several awards including the Princeton University graduate fellowship award, the 2015 “China National 1000 Talented Scientific Entrepreneur” award and others. Currently Professor Li is a professor at Soochow’s College of Textile Engineering of Soochow University.
