Min Zhang is a distinguished professor in the School of Computer Science and Technology, Soochow University, China. He is the vice dean of research in the school, the director of the research institute of Human Language Technology in the school and the co- director of the two joint labs of Suda-Gowild and Suda- Ecovacs. His current research interests include natural language processing, machine translation and artificial intelligence.

He received his Bachelor's degree and Ph.D. degree in computer science from Harbin Institute of Technology, Harbin, in 1991 and 1997, respectively. From 1997 to 2013, he has been working overseas in both industry and academy for 16 years. And he joined the Soochow University in 2013.  

He has been doing research on natural language processing, machine translation and artificial intelligence for twenty-six years since 1991. He mainly focuses on the structure and semantic analysis of natural language, and the paradigm study of machine translation. He proposed the linguistics-motivated kernel learning method for natural language understanding, large scale semi-supervised dependency parsing algorithm and syntax-based statistical/neural machine translation methods. The above research results have been published at 100+ papers in leading journals and conferences, and two Springer English monograph. His papers have been widely cited and thus promote the research in the community. According to the statistics done by ACL Anthology Network（12 May 2017）, the H-Index, Citation and number of papers of his publications are ranked on the top of first 0.5% (0.32%, 0.49% and 0.14% respectively) among all the 18863 researchers included in the database of ACL Anthology. Besides academic research, his research results have been applied to industry by project collaboration and licensing, including start-up companies, MNC, Internet companies and robotic companies. His research have supported by several on-going projects, including NSFC funding for Distinguished Young Scholar and of key programs, and the National Key Research and Development Program of China.

He is the winner of National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and of the high level talent plan of innovation and entrepreneurship in Jiangsu province. He is also the winner of the high level creative group plan of innovation and entrepreneurship in Jiangsu province. He received three scientific & technical progress and achievement awards at ministerial level. He is currently the associate editor of IEEE/ACM Transactions on Audio, speech and language processing, the editorial board member of SCIENCE CHINA Information Sciences and ACTA AUTOMATICA SINICA, and the chair of ACL/SIGHAN.
