SU Arts Student Won the Championship in the “28th Miss Model of the World” China Final Contest

On October 22, the high-profile final contest of the "28th Miss Modelof the World China" came to a happy ending in Shenzhen Folk Culture Village.Through several rounds of strict elimination, only 63 contestants from collegesand universities all over the country entered the final, including four students majoring in Fashion Design and Performing from our School of Arts. Inthe final contest, they not only presented their beautiful appearances but also showed the unique cultural graces of Soochow University students to the judges and more than 4,000 guests.

Thefinal contest set awards for the top five winners and 10 individual awards.Through fierce competition in a series of stages including folk costume presentation, swimsuit presentation, evening dress presentation, and talent presentation, Dai Ying, a student of our School of Arts, won the championship and the "Best Figure Award," while student Liu Yaqian won fifth place and the "Best Swimsuit Award", and student Li Xianmei won the "Best Skin Award". These three students clinched five out of 15 awards, accounting for 1/3 of the total awards. While impressing the audiences nationwide, they fully presented Soochow University's achievements in talent cultivation.

What is particularly worth mentioning is that it is not the first time that our university students presented their strength through this platform to the country and the world. In the "23th Miss Model of the World" held back in 2011, our student Li Meng won the championship in the China final contest and another took third place in the of the same year. This time, our students won the top award in the contest again, which fully demonstrates our Fashion Design and Performing program's adherence to high-quality talent cultivation. We expect that they will bring us more pleasant surprises on higher platforms in the future.
