Congratulations! Sports People from Soochow University Achieved High in the 13th Chinese National Games

After 12 day's fierce competition, the 13th Chinese National Games came to an end in Tianjin on September 8th. The team from Soochow University, constituted by over 30 students and teachers, made great achievements in six events covering track and field, swimming, taekwondo, handball, modern pentathlon and martial arts, bring a great honor to the university by winning 9 gold medals, 4 silver medals, 3 bronze medals, 2 fifth prizes, and 2 seventh prizes.


Sun Yang

Sun Yang claimed titles of the 200, 400, 800, 1500, 4X200m freestyle relay, as well as a silver from 4X100m freestyle relay. With six golds and one silver in pocket, Sun did make a great achievement in the Chinese National Games with his painstaking efforts.


Jiang Lan

As a veteran player in track and field, Jiang Lan, together with other young athletes, won the gold medal for women's 4X100m, and a fifth prize in the individual 100m event.


In addition, Hu Yufei won a silver medal in men's decathlon, and Liu Liping won the bronze medal for taekwondo women -49kg. In the Team Competition for Women's Marathon, Wang Xueqing and Wei Xiaojie won a team silver, and they also won a bronze medal and a seventh prize in women's 10000m event respectively.    



On behalf of Jiangsu Provincial Team, Xu Yifei, Liu Jiang, Zhao Nan, Gu Yanchao, Zhang Jiawei, and Wang Weiqiang won three successive championships in Men's Handball. In the event of Men's 400m, Feng Zhiqiang and Wang Yijie won a gold medal and a seventh prize respectively. Thanks to the tacit cooperation with the team, Huang Xin won the silver medal for Men's 4 X400m relay. Besides, Shan Yunyun won the bronze medal for taekwondo women -57kg, and Wang Yawen won a seventh prize in Wushu Routine-Women's Omnium of Long Fist, Fencing and Spearplay.
