At 21 o'clock of May 4th, the 2018 "Flowers in May" NationalCollege and Middle School StudentArt Performance(also the China Youth Day Gala) was held simultaneously by CCTV1, China National Radio and China Radio International.Students and teachers of Soochow University were invited to attend the performance for the fourth time by the production team.
Organized by the Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the CPC, the Ministry of Education and the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, the “Flowers in May”, as a branded program broadcasted during the China Youth Day, was held by CCTV and recorded at China Agricultural University this year. Themed “Building Dreams in a New Era and Creating a New Future”, the very Gala, covering the performances of thecollege and middle school students from over 150 institutions, is definitely a high-quality joint art performance with great vitality.
After a careful consideration, Miss Wu Jingyu, as a representative doctoral student of the university was selected to perform at the gala. On the stage of the Gala, Wu sang the song Flying Red Flag together with Zhang Yixing, the famous young actor, Wu Dajing, the Champion in 2018 winter Olympic games, Sun Yuhao and Xiang Yanmei, the Olympic Champions from Peking University and Central South Universityrepectively.
As an enrolled doctoral student in the School of Political Science and Public Administration of Soochow University, Miss Wu Jingyu also serves as the ambassador of the Nanjing Youth Olympic Games and the vice president of Chinese Taekwondo Association after winning the championship in the 29th and 30th Olympic games. In the early April, when the production team of the “Flowers in May” invited her, in the coordination meeting with higher institutions, to attend the performance, she agreed delightedly with deep gratitude toward the university. As an original student who finished her undergraduate and graduate programs at the School of Physical Education of Soochow University, Wu not only builds a solid professional foundation in taekwondo but endeavors to promote the studies in Olympic culture and the sciences of physical education administration. With the supports of the supervisor team constituted by professors from the School of Physical Education and the School of Political Science and Public Administration, Wu successfully changes from an athlete to a coach and a researcher in the science of physical education upon completing the courses required by the doctoral program and preparing for her doctoral dissertation. By managing her schedule properly and overcoming the difficulties in trainings and social sports activities, Wu passes an inspiring spirit to the audiences with her positive and dynamic performance. Meanwhile, on the stage of the Gala, Miss Wang Jiamin from the dance team of Dongwu Art Troupe, as a student representative, also participated in the dance performances themed I Have an Appointment with 2035 and Amazing China at the opening phase and the end of the Gala.
