Recently, Jiangsu Education Department has announced results of the 6th Jiangsu College Student Art Exhibition and Performance. Soochow University has won 8 special awards in instrumental music, dance, drama, recitation, vocal performance, and art practice workshops. The number of special awards ranks first in Colleges in Jiangsu Province, winning the “excellent organization award”. Soochow University has won 3 first prizes, 11 second prizes and 14 third prizes in painting, calligraphy, photography, design, micro film and aesthetic education reform and innovation outstanding cases in colleges. Soochow Art Troupe and Soochow Drama Society have been awarded “Jiangsu Excellent College Student Art Troupe”. Four original performances have been awarded “excellent Creation Awards”.

Jiangsu College Student Art Exhibition and Performance is the highest standard, largest scale and most influential college student art event in Jiangsu Province at present. Soochow University actively responded to this art exhibition, closely adhered to the theme of “struggle, innovation and dedication”, and carefully organized the competition.

The original dance “Forging Ahead” has shown the Chinese mountaineering team challenging the world’s highest mountain again and again with firm cultural confidence. The original short play “Candlelight Everywhere” has reflected the great anti-epidemic spirit of the whole nation. The original recitation “Ding Xiang’s Love” has told the true story of Ding Xiang, a heroic alumna of Soochow University.

The original symphony “Soochow Imagination” has displayed the Soochow university motto. Jiangnan Silk and bamboo ensemble “Nanci qiban” has reflected the practical result of excellent traditional Chinese culture inheritance base of Soochow University. Saxophone ensemble “Free Tango” has sung the string song of the soul.  The chorus “The Mulberry by the Road and Flight Song” has embodied the team spirit.

The art practice workshop of “Beauty of Engraving—Painting Inheritance and Activation of Taohuawu Woodblock New Year pictures”  has completed over 30 pieces of Taohuawu woodblock new year pictures and over 200 pieces of cultural and creative products such as household appliances, stationery, toys and food packaging.

Recently, the Party committee of Soochow university has played a leading role in aesthetic education, forming a pattern of aesthetic education policy of “three-wide” education, attaching great importance to the role of aesthetic education of College Student Art Exhibition  and  Performance” platform, so that more students can learn in the practice of aesthetic education and enhance aesthetic taste and spiritual pursuit.
