2015 Light, Energy and the Environment Congress Held at Soochow University

From November 1st to 5th, 2015 Light, Energy and the Environment Congress co-hosted by The Optical Society of America and the Institute of Functional Nano & Soft Materials was held at Soochow University. About 300 scientists, engineers and students from over 100 universities and institutions around the world attended the congress thus to discuss on such topics as the generation methods, costs, environment and efficiency management of energy.

Professor Sune Svanberg, Academician of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and Engineering, President of the Nobel Committee in Physics from Lund University made a keynote speech titled as "Laser Spectroscopy Applied into Environment, Ecology and Medical Research" at the congress.

During the five-day congress, 100 experts or so from home and abroad made reports in fields such as optical nanostructures, photovoltaic solar cells, energy and its influences on environment, lighting devices with organic and inorganic materials. The success of the very congress promoted the exchanges between Chinese and international scholars on fields of optics, environment and energy, and is expected to exert great and profound influence on the future development in the relevant research areas.
