Biography of speaker:

Prof. Dengshun Miao is a distinguished professor at Nanjing Medical University and the director of Bone and Stem cell research center. He is also a part-time professor in the department of medicine at McGill University in Canada. He obtained his M.S. from Nanjing Medical University, his Ph.D. from Sheffield University in England. Then he worked as a postdoctoral scholar in the McGill University. From 2002, he became an assistant professor at the McGill University. From 2005, he returned to Nanjing Medical University and has been recruited as a special professor. Supported by a number of funds, he worked on mechanisms of bone and stem cells, as well as aging and disease. He has published a large body of articles in the leading scientific journals such as J Clin Invest, Genes &Dev, PNAS, PLOS Genetics, Hum Mol Genet, Aging Cell, J Bone and Mineral Res, J BiolChem, Endocrinology. He participated in the preparation of three English treatises, two international patents for invention, and one national patent for invention. He won the second and third class of Jiangsu provincial science and technology awards once each.
