On the morning of January 6, a distinguished professor seminar was held at the conference room of Kenneth Wang School of Law.

As pointed out by Assistant President Zhang Xiaohong, the University is at a critical stage in the development of "double first-rate" requirements. The distinguished professors represent an important workforce for construction and development at the University. This seminar aims to amass the wisdom and strength of distinguished professors in order to devise plans and solutions for better development at the University.

Directly facing the issues at the seminar, every distinguished professor voiced their opinions freely. They provided their advice and recommendations on a selection of issues, including faculty development, talent introduction policies, graduate recruitment, cultivation of young faculty members, the integration development strategy of "a renowned university in a well-known city", development of differentiated disciplines, university culture, performance assessment mechanisms, development of course systems and scientific research teams, and supportive services. In addition, they engaged in extensive discussions and exchanges.

As stressed by President Xiong Sidong, distinguished professors and the team played a critical role in developing the University. As he anticipated, every distinguished professor will fully honor their terms of reference while delivering their own personal values, while fully understanding and actively looking after different kinds of information regarding the University from various channels. In this way, they will offer more conducive and effective advice as well as recommendations for the development of the University. In addition, he responded to questions raised by the distinguished professors over faculty development, graduate recruitment, and faculty division system. All relevant departments of the University are required to sort out and carry out such advice and recommendations as offered by the distinguished professors, which will serve as a roadmap for the actions of the University. In the future, the University will regularly hold distinguished professor seminars to directly heed advice and recommendations of each professor, focus on some specific issues, and put forward corresponding solutions. These will therefore promote the sustainable advancement and development of the University in all aspects.
