Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement Signed Between Soochow University and the Government of Wujiang District

On the afternoon of Nov. 1st, a ceremony was held for the signing of a Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement between Soochow University and the Government of Wujiang District. Key figures presented at the ceremony include Mr. Cao Houling, Vice Mayor of Suzhou Municipal Government, Mr. Shen Guofang, CPC Secretary of Wujiang District, Mr. Li Ming, Deputy CPC Secretary and District Mayor of Wujiang, Professor Jiang Yong, Secretary of CPC Soochow Committee, and President XiongSidong of Soochow University. Many other leaders of the university and the government also attended the ceremony.

 

 

  

Mr. Shen Guofang extended a warm welcome to all the guests presented and also expressed his appreciation for the contributions that everyone has made for the development of Wujiang District. While introducing about the district, Shen emphasized that it is important to cooperate with universities and research institutes so as to attract high-end sources and provide intellectual support for the development of different industries. Shen also wished that Soochow University would keep supporting the social and economic development of Wujiang District with its sources of innovation and high-level talents.

 

 

 

Professor Jiang also appreciated that Wu Jiang District Government has been supporting the development of Soochow University in various ways and he stated that the signing of the agreement should allow more space and opportunities for cooperation between the district and the university in such areas as talent development, scientific research and social service, which should enable Soochow to fulfill its societal responsibilities and contribute to the development of Wujiang District.

 

 

  

President XiongSidong and District Mayor Li Min signed the agreement on behalf of both parties, which ensures that Soochow University and Wujiang District would cooperate in establishing thinking tanks, joint labs, research institutes, and collaborative innovation centers, as well as enhancing collaboration in other scientific, educational, medical and public health, and urbanization programs.

 

 

  

After signing the agreement, Deputy Mayor Cao pointed out in his speech that the agreement is a symbol of the fruitfulness of the program of "Famous City, Famous University", a program aimed at promoting collaborated development between Soochow and Suzhou City. Cao wished that the district government and the university should co-work according to the blueprint provided by the agreement so as to benefit the people and the society effectively.
