Agreement Signed By Soochow and Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland for “2+2” Undergraduate program

On August 29, a delegation from Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland visited Soochow University. The delegation consisted ofMr.Kenneth Mealy, Chairperson of the RCSI Board and President of RCSI; CEO Professor Cathal Kelly; Mr. Michael McGrail, Director of strategy; Professor Paul Gallagher, Dean of pharmaceutical college; Mr. John L. Waddington, Professor Emeritus of RSCI and Dr. Helena Kelly, the project leader of the 2+2 program. President XiongSidongand other departmental leaders from Soochow met with the visitors and had a friendly talk together.



President XiongSidong first extended warm welcome to the delegation and briefed them the history and development of Soochow. Mr. Kenneth Mealy and his delegation appreciated the warm reception and introduced the latest developments in RSCI. In recent years, the two institutions have been cooperating effectively in all aspects and have laid a good foundation for deepening the collaboration.


During the meeting, the two parties put forward a number of cooperation plans, ranging from the joint supervision of undergraduates, the joint supervision of postgraduates, to students' short-term study, joint teaching and other projects. It is expected that suchcollaboration can provide more opportunities for students, teachers and researchers to exchange ideas.




The two parties also reached a consensus and decided to take active measures, such as scholarly exchange, so that teachers and students of the two schools can better know the teaching and research resources of the other school. Finally, an agreement on the "2 + 2" joint supervision program for undergraduates majoring in pharmacy was officially signed.
