On January 22th, the ceremony for signing the strategic cooperation framework agreement between Soochow University and China National Nuclear Corporation was held in Beijing Guoyi Hotel. Yu Jianfeng, Secretary of the Leading Party Group and Chairman of China National Nuclear Corporation, Li Qingtang, Member of the Leading Party Group and Vice President of China National Nuclear Corporation, Jiang Yong,Secretary of the CPC Committee of Soochow University, Xiong Sidong, President of Soochow University, Yang Yixin, Vice President of Soochow University, and Jiang Xinghong, Vice President of Soochow University, attended the signing ceremony.

Under the witness of the leaders attending the ceremony, President Xiong Sidong and Vice President Li Qingtang signed the strategic cooperation agreement on behalf of two parties respectively, which initiated a new stage of university-enterprise cooperation between Soochow University and China National Nuclear Corporation.

Before the signing ceremony, Secretary Jiang Yong and President Xiong Sidong had a meeting with Chairman Yu Jianfeng. On behalf of China National Nuclear Corporation, Yu Jianfeng extended a warm welcome to Professor Jiang and President Xiongas well as the delegation. He introduced development of China National Nuclear Corporationand pointed out that Soochow University had made remarkable achievements in disciplinary construction in recent years, among which radiation medicine calls for special mention as it is the only national key discipline in this field in China. China National Nuclear Corporationhad been maintaining close and effective cooperation with Soochow University in nuclear medicine and nuclear technology application, and had made a series of important achievements. It was hoped that two sides would take the signing of the strategic cooperation agreement as an opportunity to carry out joint research and development of science and technology and forward-looking research to achieve major breakthroughs in innovation early.

Secretary Jiang Yong expressed his gratitude to China National Nuclear Corporation for its warm and friendly reception and thoughtful arrangements, and introduced development of Soochow University and the medical discipline to the attendees at the meeting. He said that Soochow University had always attached great importance to the medical discipline, and the “Disciplinary Group” with radiation medicine and protection as the core had developed rapidly in recent years. The signing of strategic cooperation framework agreement between two sides was of great significance to further deep enuniversity-enterprise cooperation. Soochow University would give full play to its professional advantages and characteristics in the fields of radiation medicine, radiological protection biomedicine, materials science, instrumentation, chemical engineering, physics and other disciplines to promote comprehensive strategic cooperation between two sides and promote their leap-frog development. It was hoped that two sides would hold on to their original aspiration and actively respond to the call of “deepening reform of defense-related science, technology, and industry,achieving greater military-civilian integration, and building integrated national strategies and strategic capabilities”by the 19th National Congress to push forward nuclear medicine and related fields of nuclear industry to a new level.

It has been also stated that two sides would accelerate the construction of “school-enterprise co-construction industry platform”, strengthen cooperation in industry-university-research exchanges, personnel training, professional skill training and other aspects, and promote the marketization transformation and application of nuclear medical technology and other related industries.
