The Seminar on “Telling China’s Stories Well and Constructing Chinese Academic International Communication Discourse System” was Held in Soochow University

On April 10th, the seminar on “Telling China’s Stories Well and Constructing Chinese Academic International Communication Discourse System” was held in Soochow University. Several university and government leaders attended the event, including Director Wang Lei from  Bureau of International Cooperation Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, President Zhao Jianying from China Social Sciences Press, Vice President Shen Mingrong from Soochow University, and President Liu Bogao from Suzhou Federation of Philosophy and Social Science Association .


Shen Mingrong addressed the opening ceremony by introducing the history and the status quo of Soochow University. Liu Bogao hoped that experts and scholars could explore the rich connotation and spiritual characteristics of Jiangnan culture, especially Suzhou culture, and examine ways to promote construction of Chinese academic international communication.



Zhao Jianying highlighted that it was significant and urgent to tell China’s stories well and construct international communication discourse system in the new era and the new stage. Wang Lei pointed out that systematic thinking should be used to construct international communication discourse system.


In addition, Senior Professor Wu Xiao Ming from Fudan University, President Liu Bogao from Suzhou Federation of Philosophy and Social Science Association, Distinguished  Professor Ren Ping from Soochow University, President Fan Heping from Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of Southeast University, Professor He Mingxing from School of International Journalism and communication of Beijing Foreign Studies University, Dean Zhu Xinfu from School of Foreign Languages of Soochow University, and Dean Wu Yun from School of Foreign Languages of Tongji University were engaged as members of the expert committee of “going global” by China Social Sciences Press.

Afterwards, the above-mentioned scholars delivered keynote speeches respectively, and experts and scholars attending the seminar had in-depth exchanges and discussions.
