Professor Liu Zhuang, Soochow University, awarded the 2017’s Biomaterials Science Lectureship

On May 5, 2017, it was officially announced on the website of Biomaterials Science, a subordinate periodical of Royal Society of Chemistry, that the professor Liu Zhuang of Soochow University to be the winner of this year's Biomaterials Science Lectureship. It is the third time that Chinese researcherhas got the award.

Biomaterials Science Lectureship was founded in 2014 in order to award young scholars who make notable contribution to biological material science research. Only one individual can be elected winner of this award every year. Apart from Mr. Liu, there have been three other winners since its foundation: Fan Yan (Stanford University); Joel Collier (Duke University); Suzie Pun (University of Washington).

Mr. Liu joined Soochow University in 2009 as a senior professor of College of Nano Science& Technology. In recent years he has been engaged in the research of nanomedicine and the application of nanotechnology in treating cancers. Since 2005, professor Liu has published more than 200 academic papers, which have been cited over 28000 times (SCI-index: 77). He was listed in the Highly Cited Researchers delivered by Thomson Reuters in the year of 2015 and 2016 (Chemistry, Material Science). From 2013 to 2015, professor Liu got many national youth funds in succession. He is also employed as the associate editor of Biomaterials, a well-established international periodical in the field of biological material science.
