Project of AOT Approved by the National Key Technologies R&D Program of MOST

Recently, a project of the Artificial Organ Technology Lab of Soochow University was approved as a part of the National Key Technologies R&D Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST). Under the pilot programs to develop digital diagnostic equipment set by the MOST, the project regarding "the development and clinical evaluation of implantable ventricular assist device", led by Professor Chen Chen, was funded with a total amount of 11.48 million RMB.


Initiated by Suzhou Tongxin Biomedical Incorporation, the project has gathered the strengths of many advanced institutes, including Tsinghua University, Soochow University, Beijing University of Technology, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Fuwai Hospital Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, and the Second Hospital of Hebei Medical University. Soochow University is assigned with the third task in the project, namely, to work out "the cutting-edge technology in the motor driving of blood pump and that in active magnetic suspension".


The approval of the project would promote the clinical application of the industrialization of artificial heart in China, and prepare for the development of the next-generation technology. The implementation of the project would also benefit the mass patients in China, and contribute to our marching to the international forefront of the artificial heart technology.
