The team led by Xu Youjia, the Vice Chairman of Chinese Society of Osteoporosis And Bone Mineral Research and Director of the osteoporosis clinical center of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University, and the team led by Wang Jianrong, the Professor of Hematology of the Cyrus Tang Medical Institute of Soochow University, together discovered a new causal-effect relation of osteoporosis and revealed a new mechanism of the functional dependence of bone and blood. The result of this study was published online in Aging Cell, a top international journal in the field of aging.
This study found a new cause of osteoporosis, elucidated the cytological basis of the functional link between the systems of bone and blood, and revealed a new mechanism of the functional dependence of bone and blood. In addition, it provided a new way of thinking for the diagnosis and prevention of clinical osteoporosis. The study suggested that in the future, it is necessary to check whether the function of the blood system is abnormal in the diagnosis of osteoporosis, and the recovery of the function of blood system may need to be considered in the treatment of osteoporosis.
Doctoral students Yuan Ye and Fang Yixuan were the joint first authors of the paper published in Aging Cell, and Professor Xu Youjia and Professor Wang Jianrong were the co-corresponding authors of this paper. The study was funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and other departments.
