Soochow University Won two Science and Technology Awards of Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation
On November 3rd, The 2020 Award Presentation Ceremony of the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation was held in Beijing. Liu He, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier, attended the event. Professor Lu Jianmei won the prize for scientific and technological innovation of the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation and Professor Wu Depei won the prize for scientific and technological progress of the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation. This is the first time that Soochow University has won the award.

Professor Lu Jianmei has conducted continuous research on three major issues concerning complex pollutant composition, efficient recovery and purification, and accurate detection. The “oil absorbing treasure material” invented by her has been successfully applied in over 40 major oil spill accidents at home and abroad, and has been evaluated as “magical material” by Professor Sharpless, the Nobel Laureate in chemistry. The invention of dual functional materials and equipment of “enhanced enrichment / catalytic degradation” breaks the situation that domestic volatile organic compounds (VOCs) mainly relied on Japanese imports. The invention of multi electric signal response materials breaks through international technical problems.
Professor Lu Jianmei is the representative of the 16th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. She has undertaken 16 national level projects, published 371 high-quality papers in famous Journals, and had 122 authorized invention patents (22 U.S. patents), 11 patent transfers and 32 achievements industrialization.
