Professor Chen Xinjian’s team from Soochow University won the First Prize of the 10th Wu Wenjun Artificial Intelligence Technology Invention in 2020

On April 10th, the 10th anniversary ceremony of “Wu Wenjun Artificial Intelligence Science and Technology Award” and the annual meeting of Artificial Intelligence Industry were held in Beijing and Suzhou.Intelligent medical image analysis and its clinical diagnosis application” led by Professor Chen Xinjian’s team from Soochow University won the first prize of Wu Wenjun Artificial Intelligence Technology Invention. This is the first time that Soochow University has won the award.

The project team focused on the research on intelligent medical image processing and analysis, and explored new methods and technologies based on information science and clinical medical problems. The team made breakthrough research achievements in medical image segmentation, multimodal medical image fusion and multi-point disease growth modeling. The team developed the full-automatic artificial intelligence OCT, which had the advantages of automatic focus, automatic collection and automatic diagnosis, integrated artificial intelligence diagnosis, had complete independent intellectual property rights, and the technical level reached the international advanced level, and met the screening needs of hundreds of millions of eye disease patients. The team independently developed the multimodal artificial intelligence analysis and diagnosis software MIAs in more than 30 hospitals ophthalmic centers for large-scale clinical application promotion, cumulatively assisting diagnosis of more than 50000 ophthalmic diseases such as sugar network. The number of free screening in Jiangsu, Jiangxi and Guangdong Province was over 10000, helping more than 1300 people realize early detection of ophthalmic diseases, achieving remarkable social and economic benefits.

Wu Wenjun Artificial Intelligence Science and Technology Award was supported by the pioneer of China’s intelligent science research and the winner of the first Highest Science and Technology Awards Wu Wenjun, which was organized by Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence in 2011.
