Two: "2+2" Dual-Degree Programs





1. Waterloo University in Canada


(1) Program Introduction:
Undergraduate students who will study at Soochow University for four years can apply for a two-year program to study in Waterloo University after they have studied at Soochow University for two years. If they complete the required courses and get the required credits within the four years, they can get a dual-degree from the two schools since the credits achieved in both schools are both recognized by both institutions.
(2) Majors and Application Process:
Soochow University: sophomores majoring in biology, biochemistry, biomedicine, chemistry, computer science, environmental science, Earth science, mathematics and physics. Seniors can also apply for the program if they are willing to repeat the lessons for the seniors provided by Waterloo University.
The average grades of the main courses achieved by the applicants should be higher than 70% and the applicants should pass all of their exams. Also, the applicants should try to meet the course requirements set by the University of Waterloo. For example, if the students have not chosen enough courses, they should make up for the missing courses at the University of Waterloo.
The applicants must have a good foundation in English, they should pass at least the College English Test (CET) at band 4. Students are required to attend a six-week English language training course and school education programs after reaching the University of Waterloo. This program begins in mid-July each year and students should pay for the program themselves. Those who have passed the CET band 6 and scored 75 points or more on the Waterloo Renison College Admission Test are not required to attend the English language training course. Students who have participated in standard tests such as IELTS or TOEFL and met the admission requirements by the University of Waterloo (IELTS 7.0, TOEFL PBT 580, and IBT 90) are also not required to participate in this language training.
Applicants should have sufficient funds to pay the expenses of learning and living abroad. (The total cost is about 200,000 yuan, of which 19,000 Canadian dollars is the tuition for two semesters and 6,500 Canadian dollars is for the accommodation and other expenses).
(3) Start-up time for the program:
The program starts from October or December each year and students are enrolled in July or August in the following year.

2.  Daegu University in South Korea


(1) Program Introduction:
Undergraduate students who will study at Soochow University for four years can apply for a two-and-a-half-year program to study in Daegu University after they have studied in Soochow University for two years (including half a year of Korean language training). If they complete the required courses, get the required credits in four years, and achieve the Korean TOPIC 4 level, they can get a dual-degree from the two schools since the credits achieved in both schools are recognized.
(2) Application requirements:
Sophomores who have studied at Soochow University for two years and passed the Korean TOPIC 3 level exam can directly apply for their own majors. Students without any Korean learning experience are required to take part in a Korean learning program for half a year.
Applicants should perform well in their studies and be healthy. They need to be able to afford the expenses of studying abroad (approximately 150,000-250,000 yuan is needed).
(3) Start-up time for the program:
The program starts in March each year and students are enrolled in the end of August or in early September.


3. Woosong University in South Korea


(1) Program Introduction:
Undergraduate students who will study at Soochow University for four years can apply for a two-year program to study in Woosong University after they have studied at Soochow University for two years. If they complete the required courses and get the required credits in four years, they can get a dual-degree from the two schools since the credits achieved in both schools are recognized.
(2) Majors and Application Process:
Sophomores studying in the School of Urban Rail Transportation and having passed the Korean TOPIC 3 level exam can directly apply for relevant study programs. Applicants who cannot reach Korean TOPIC 3 level or the equivalent level need to attend Korean learning programs from the school.
Applicants should perform well in their studies and be healthy. They need to be able to afford the expenses of studying abroad (approximately 160,000-200,000 yuan is needed).
(3) Start-up time for the program:
The program starts in March each year and students are enrolled in the end of August or in early September.


4. Hokuriku University in Japan


(1) Program Introduction:
Undergraduate students who will study at Soochow University for four years can apply for a two-year program to study in Hokuriku University after they have studied in Soochow University for two years. If they complete the required courses and get the required credits in four years, they can get a dual-degree from the two schools since the credits achieved in both schools are recognized.
(2) Application requirements:
Sophomores majoring in Japanese in Soochow University (including Wenzheng College and the Applied Technology College of Soochow University);
Healthy, strong adaptability, and the ability to live independently;
Can afford the expenses of studying abroad (approximately 300,000 yuan is needed).
(3) Start-up time for the program:
The program starts with an introductory meeting in March and in June; and the students will need to attend an exam. They can then go to Japan the next March.



5. Kanazawa Seiryo University, Japan


(1) Program Introduction:
Undergraduate students who will study in Soochow University for four years can apply for a two-year program to study in Kanazawa Seiryo University after they have studied in Soochow University for two years. If they complete the required courses and get the required credits in four years, they can get a dual-degree from the two schools since the credits achieved in both schools are recognized.
(2) Application requirements:
Sophomores in the Business School of Soochow University with a Level 2 or higher Japanese Language Proficiency Test Certificate.
Healthy, strong adaptability and ability to live independently;
Can afford the expenses of studying abroad (approximately 300,000 yuan is needed).
(3) Start-up time for the program:
The program starts with an introductory meeting in April and they can go to Japan in the next March.
