Sports Development Forum for Middle & Primary Schools in Suzhou Co-hosted by Soochow University and the Municipal Education Bureau




On the afternoon of January 8th,the Sports Development Forum for Middle & Primary Schools in Suzhou was co-hosted by the Physical Education College of Soochow University and the Municipal Education Bureau at Tiancizhuang Campus.

With the topic of “Opportunities, Challenges and Solutions for Sports Development in Schools”, related experts made a heated discussion. Principals and professional PE teachers from different schools interacted with college teachers and students cordially on relevant issues such as what could be called as an ideal physical education, how to be a qualified PE teacher, how should physical education in universities facilitate that in middle and primary schools, and how should we build the employment competitiveness for students majored in PE, etc.

Just before the forum, these attendees appreciated performances and skills of students in the Physical Education College including track and field, basketball, volleyball, football, badminton,table tennis, slow-pitch softball, calisthenics, martial art, Tai Chi, roller-skating,dance, and exercise rehabilitation, etc. With warm applauses and a lively atmosphere, performers on the stage of the stadium showed their basic special skills as well as some stunner stunts. The education concepts and achievements of the Physical Education College in talents cultivation have been displayed incisively and vividly via their performances.

Appreciated by experts and employers in the industry, the skill performances of our graduates promoted the transparency of the students’ special skills, deepened the comprehensive understandings to the competences of students in the Physical Education College, and benefited the employment conditions of the College.

By closely combining the physical education in middle and primary schools with talent cultivation in universities, the activity played a pivotal role in implementing PE reforms among schools in Suzhou, for it further promoted the comprehensive levels of physical health and education as well as students’ overall developments with the resource advantages from universities, teaching innovations and basic education services.
