2017 Higher Education Forum for Cross-Strait and Australian Institutions Held in Soochow University




Held inthe Laura Haygood Memorial of the Main Campus of Soochow Universityon May 19th,the 2017 Higher Education Forum for Cross-Strait and Australian Institutions has attracted many representatives from 12 universities in related countries and regions, including those from Soochow University (Taiwan), Fu Jen Catholic University, Tamkang University, University of Macau,Macau University of Science and Technology, Western Sydney University, University of Western Australia, Australian Catholic University, University of Sydney, Southeast University, Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University and Soochow University.

With its two sections held separately on the morning and the afternoon, the Forum has covered a series of significant keynote speeches and many hot issues regarding the internationalization and specialization of higher education. Experts and scholars and the corresponding speeches they made are as follows:

Professor Xiong Sidong (President of Soochow University): The Specialized Road for the Development of Colleges and Universities.

Professor Denise Kirkpatrick (Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Western Sydney University): Reforms on the Education of Innovation and Entrepreneurship for Colleges and Universities.

Professor Jiang Hansheng (President of Fu Jen Catholic University):Strategies for the Internationalizationof Higher Education.

   Professor Sun Jianrong (Assistant Vice-President of Macau University of Science and Technology): Institution Accreditation and the Internationalization of Education.

   Professor Lan Yizhen (Vice President of Western Sydney University): Internship Programs for Students from Australia in Partner Institutions and Enterprises in Taiwan and Mainland China.

   Professor Greg McCarthy (University of Western Australia): Studies on Australiain China.



During the Forum, Soochow University signed an Academic Cooperation Memorandum with Western Sydney University, and achieved consensus with the university on items regarding talent cultivation, discipline construction, and teaching and scientific researches.
