Congratulate LiXiangfei from School of Mathematical Sciences for winning the first prize inthe final of the 8th Chinese Mathematics Competition




On the 17th of March, the 8th Chinese Mathematics Competition took place as scheduled. It was held by Chinese Mathematical Society and undertook by University of Science & Technology Beijing. Li Xiangfei, a student admitted by School of Mathematical Sciences from Soochow University in 2013, participated in the competition as a competitor from Jiangsu. On the 19th of March, Li received the first prize of mathematics at the award ceremony held in the Faculty Auditorium of University of Science & Technology Beijing.

The Chinese Mathematics Competition is a mathematics competition, which has the largest number of participants and the greatest influence in China. It not only provides undergraduates with a stage where they can show their mathematical thinking but also provides materials in order to develop the math courses in universities. It was reported that there were 86946 participants from 28 areas in total, and after the preliminary selection,274 students (94 students whose majors are mathematics while 180 students whose majors are not) entered the final. The Chinese Mathematics Competition was combined by a mathematics-major competition and a non-mathematics-major competition.
