Over 10,000 Newcomers Arrived at Soochow University

From September 9th to 10th, over 10,000 newcomers (the 2017 undergraduates and graduates) arrived at Soochow University, and had their studentship registered.

On the first day of their arrival, Secretary Jiang Yong and Deputy Secretary Deng Min of the Party Committee of Soochow University visited the registration site for newcomer-guiding in Dushu Lake Campus. They also monitored the procedures for the reception of these newcomers after visiting the reception desks set by each department, school and college, payment windows, the “green passage”, and dormitories. Meanwhile, leaders of the university also expressed their gratitude to the faculty, student volunteers and the logistical personnel.

On the site for newcomer-guiding, the new students were encouraged to install the mobile app “Hello, Soochow University” by scanning the QR code. After logging in the app and receiving the e-registration list, these newcomers could handle all the procedures regarding their enrollment in a simple and fast manner. In addition, departments, schools, colleges and other divisions could also check the progress and provide student with updated and efficient services via the management system for newcomer-reception.

Following the traditions in the previous years, the university also set a “green passage” for those from humble families to handle their tuition fees and living expenses by applying for student loans and a deferred payment.
