Introduction

Over the past five years, Overseas Education College of Soochow University has admitted about 600 students for both short-and long-term Chinese-learning programs every semester. They come from more than 40 countries and regions including Korea, Japan, Laos, USA, France, Germany and other countries.

Long-term Chinese-learning programs

Different courses are offered each semester for every level including basic, beginner, intermediate, and advanced courses. Students who have never learned Chinese before can attend basic courses. Those who have studied Chinese before will take an exam and be placed to different classes respectively. Students will have classes from Monday to Friday and will be free on Saturday and Sunday. Students will have 16 to 20 classes for compulsory courses each week. The college also provides about ten optional courses. Students who obey the regulations, attend classes and pass the exams will be given a course-completion certificate.

Short-term Chinese-learning programs

Generally speaking, this program is only available to groups of more than 10 people. This program aims to offer foreign students an opportunity to know China by giving Chinese classes,   Chinese culture lectures, and many other interesting activities.
