Overview




Soochow University began hiring foreign experts since the 1980s. With the gradual deepening of the Reform and Open Policies, Soochow University employed professionals in a higher number, providing more types and higher levels. In 2012, the university has recruited more than 700 long-term foreign experts and over 1,000 short-term foreign experts. Their expertise covers a wide range, and they have made great contributions to the teaching and research work of the university. The Foreign Affairs and Exchange Office in the International Office is responsible for all foreign experts and this office should be contacted for further information.


Some Suggestions for Foreign Experts Living in China:
1) You should be friendly to China, willing to obey the laws of China and the school rules and regulations, respectful of Chinese customs.

2)For those employed as foreign language teachers: You should have a bachelor's degree in language, literature or a related discipline, have received highly specialized training in language teaching and had some experience in language teaching, being articulate, and possess normal voice and tone.
For those employed as foreign language experts: You should have a master’s in language, literature or similar discipline. You should have more than three years of teaching experience, and not be older than 60 years old.
For those long-term foreign experts employed as non-linguistic teachers and researchers: You should have a PhD, be associate professors or above, and have a relatively high academic level and a strong background in education.

3) Those who have been employed as foreign language teachers in China for more than five years will not be recruited by Soochow University.
