Suzhou (Soochow) University currently has 20 post-doctoral research stations, 6 primary disciplines entitled for conferring doctorate, 85 PhD programs and 209 master-degree programs (including one for professional training on PhD level and 10 for professional training on Master’s level), and108 undergraduate specialties . Of all the academic fields, 28 are key disciplines, with 4 on the national level and 24 on the provincial level. More 

Facilitated by the above academic recourses, the University stands out in many research fields, such as sericulture, hematology, materials and chemistry, information optics, biomedicine, radiology, Chinese Wu local culture and Chinese township studies. In recent years , the university is more concentrating on the field of nano-materials, new energy and other new research fields to keep up pace with the industry development of the Yangtze River Delta Area.
